HPCL on the allegations of polluting a water body near its terminal in the industrial area near Hassan. A patch of a lake near Dodda Basavanahalli caught fire on Monday following oil wastes released from the terminal collected in the water body. Following the incident, residents of Dodda Basavanahalli blamed HPCL for the fire in the lake and demanded action against the unit. Senior officers of the district administration visited the spot.
